Any advice as to where to get the best deal for a reconditioned steering rack, so many out there. Had one lasted 100 miles over 18 months, supplier is not interested as years warranty is out. Thanks

M & P just did mine after it recently sprung a leak from the control unit.
Extremely fast turnaround and £235 for my LHD rack including courier collection and return (£205 quoted for RHD).
So far no leaks or signs of concern. Steering has tightened up a lot, bit heavier than I am used to but then again the torsion pins on my old rack were 48 years old and pretty worn!

I went through 3 like this from the late 90s - each one lasted a few miles (and just over a year) before it filled one or both rack bellows with atf, all bought from main suppliers and before such things as internet auction sites etc etc all suppliers quoted their 1 year warrantee or less but offered to take it back in exchange for another at full cost. yeah righto
The rack that has been on my car since early 2001 came from Tony Hart when he was wearing his HRS shirt. No idea who refurbished them for him but they did a 1st class job.
No help at all I know, but your issue is not a new one unfortunately.Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

I think I will go South West next time, If I can't sort out my original rack that has the hydraulic locking problem after a high speed cruise/run, I may send it to them, will try changing all the seals in and on the spool valve first , now I have somewhere apart from the kitchen floor to do it"The UK,s 2nd Most Easterly Stag" Quad Exhaust- ZF 4 Speed BOX
