    Upper Steering Column Bearings

I’m in the process of changing the two upper bearings in my steering column as the old ones are really rusty. The new ones arrived in sealed plastic bags but seem very dry could anybody advise if they should be used like this or packed with grease before pressing into the housing ?
Many thanks in advance for any advice

Lithium or moly is fine . Regular does tend to dry out.
Use the 3 grubscrew clamp ring modification, with slight preload.

Hi, I found the three little grub screws didn't have enough grip. One by one I dimpled the steering shaft so that they could bite into the shaft, end of problem.
