Boot hinges

On my M2 the boot lid sits slightly high on passenger top side closest to the glass on hardtop. Any suggestions on how to adjust to level it b4 I climb into the boot with a flashlight. Thanks

They all do that, Sir - it's a design feature . I just live happily with mine but interested to hear how you get on.

Have heard that some incorrect seals were on the market a while ago (maybe still are) which could be causing/ aggravating your issue. Hopefully someone will post soon on recommended suppliers of the correct profile/ stiffness.

Boot lid is attached to the hinges with bolts and captive nuts. There is a small amount of adjustment available.

The seals should not affect the boot lid height. As Dave said you should be able to adjust the height by loosening the hinge bolts.

Surely it’s the bolts in the hood stowage area that you would adjust for the height not the ones on the boot lid?

No there is a small amount of adjustment on the boot hinge, if you need more adjustment you could elongate the holes on the boot lid end of the hinge a bit more

Ahh yes.. the two that are horizontal, not the 2 vertical ones.. As you say I had to also mess with the ones in the hood stowage to get mine down..

Thanks for all your advice. I’m not sure exactly what you mean but I’ll get the torch and spanners and give it a go. The last adjustments I tried saw me lock myself in the boot…. Trying shims and anything I could think of. My ta was my wife. After about 25 questions “ has it moved yet?” I came very close to being left locked in the boot. You’ve got to love your Stag to put 6 feet of yourself in the boot with next to no room to move….. all she had to do was sit outside and say yes or no. I’ll report back.

Mike is right, the seal should not affect the boot lid height.
However if the seal has been replaced with one that has a deeper / higher section than the original, it can be the cause.
I had to search for a shallower one to help with the bootlid being too high.

Even then the left side was a few mm high… but a lot of stags seem like that.
Afaiaa the vertical hinge mount holes are fixed, very little adjustment.
