    Oil loss from overdrive

My Mk 1 has recently started to drip oil from the A-type overdrive. It only happens after a run - if you wipe the area and leave it standing, there's no drip.
It seems to be coming from further up the casing on the offside, on a level with the drain plug, but I can't see where.
    Any clues?
    Thanks,
    Chris

I've got this as well, and deduced it was from the seal where the prop shaft flange is attached. I bought a new oil seal, but COULD NOT get the flange off. There is a castle nut with a pin, and I could NOT get it to undo!! (And yes, I took the pin out first...) so mine is still leaking unfortunately!

Let me know if you find a solution!
    Enjoying every minute of it...

Hi Chix, I'm fairly sure my leak is not from the rear seal as there are no splatter marks in the area, which I would have expected from the prop flange throwing oil around.
Regarding your stuck castle nut, have you tried an impact driver? I found one invaluable when removing crank and cam nuts on a vintage car recently!
