    2022/23 Insurance premiums

I am waiting for my existing insurer to get back to me with the premium for this next year. Both my classic car policies fall due at the end of the month, and much to my surprise the figures from Hagerty for my Alvis and Stag are twice what I paid last year. Can anyone recommend a good but premium competitive firm?
The irony is I only do few thousand miles a year in each so I was somewhat shocked.

Not noticed any increase in my premiums recently, I have just added my old 110 Land Rover to my Peter James policy which has the Stag and my Dolly Sprint on it. I moved back to them last October for the Sprint and the Stag as for me they gave the best "like for like" quote - i.e. mileage, agreed value, salvage buy back etc. i do find it frustrating having to shop around every year for the best deals - sometimes the differences are quite big and it adds up when you have several cars to insure.

However, my father - who is obviously quite a bit older than me! - has noticed quite a jump in the premiums on his cars at renewal in the last couple of months. Not being rude but could it be an age thing adding to the so called risk and thus increasing the premium?

In my experience, other than asking others if insurance company X has good customer service any further comparison is often useless as the premiums quoted seem to vary so much from person to person and postcode to postcode. Also last years "best buy" premium is rarely a "best buy" the following year.` Maybe its just me but that is certainly my experience.
Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!

Thanks all. Have followed up Classic line and hopefully they will get back to me Monday.

Meantime,I know I am now over 70 and my daily driver premium did go up with my insurer of many years. I got within GBP5 of the previous year's premium by shopping around. The old insurers when I told them offered to match the price. But as they didn't believe in customer loyalty, I took my business elsewhere. Ironically the brokers have got us insured with the same insurance group as previous. We live in Dorset outwith the conurbations of Poole but have a BH postcode. Our town is a low crime area with a cop shop 400 metres from our front door.

We are both active and members of the IAM. I'll keep you all posted.

I went to classic line with the stag and my c220 Mercedes and saved £225.36 , so in affect it cost me £3.27 to insure the stag, classic line comes with home start breakdown as well.

I'm with One Call (https://www.onecallinsurance.co.uk/car/car-insurance) and it's £60 for my Stag. Two named drivers, agreed value of £10,000 and mileage limit of 5000.
                  Policy includes basic breakdown cover.
Policy is with Ageas but brokeage fee with One Call is about £5.

Worth looking at them I think.

I've just renewed the TR2, Stag and Midget with the TR Register Insurance scheme which is run by A-Plan. The renewal like for like for all three was £5 more than last year.
I appreciate not many on here will be TRR members, but a quick search shows that A-plan do Classics under their own name. Might be worth getting a quote.

Just renewed mine with the club scheme and it went up £5

Be careful with salvage if ever you wanted your car back after an accident and its written off. Club scheme is free and you sti8ll get your full agreed value but with others its around 40% so you only get 60% of your agreed valuation if you keep the car. I went to Classic Line for a quite on my classic Mini and there was a big charge if I ever want the car back, so I stuck with RH.

I see this all the time (not having a pop at you Dave) and wonder why people feel the need to write it. I don't think anyone thinks any of us have any financial connection to A-Plan, Robsport, LD part, COH Baines etc etc. The only exception to that is all those guys in the drive shaft thread who seem to have shares in CDD (that's a joke by the way.....)
