    Just been for a drive...

... and I want to just tell you how much I love that Stag of mine. She is running (and looking) so sweet at the moment. What a joy.

You should see the smile on my face!

It's what owning a Stag is all about.

    Enjoying every minute of it...

My electric fan (cheap Aeroline) gave up, and so did the replacement, so now have a Revotec and although it's noisy, it seems to be doing a fab job!

No Stag overheating issues from the heat in this corner of Kent (39 deg. in the shade for two days) running a standard cooling system. Only driver distress!
Apart from a strong smell of petrol in the garage when the carburettors heat up after shutting down the engine, I have also had no adverse effects at all from running on E10 supermarket fuel.
            Who says Stags overheat?

I pull my inertia switch and run it for 30seconds or so, think Neil said that helps and it does seem to, less smell

So far so good here in Dorset. Took management to Swanage market and lots of people said how much they would love to a Stag. The Labrador in the back also got lots of strokes. Her light golden colour goes well with Java Green.

Neighbour took his out to fuel up today…. Heard it idling on the drive…. I don’t reckon there’s a better sounding car engine.
to be fair the LFA v10 & FW18 v10 are spectacular sounding but costs millions.

I drive my Stag every day. Always as well on weekends. Summer here in Australia 38 to 40 is just usual. Cannot recommend the Davies Craig 16 inch fan highly enough. It is terrific 2200 cfm. I installed it as a push fan. Only need it in summer in peak hour traffic. It’s our winter now so hard top off and soft top down.

Same for me. Car has been fine over the 800 miles on our trip in France. Temperature up to about 31 C so far (while driving) but that is the limit for us humans as opposed to the car. Over the years I have tried both top down and top up in extreme heat and both have their merits. Top down gets heat out of the car but more heat enters from the sun. Top up is best up to about 30C but beyond that ambient, the temperature in the cabin gets unbearable even with vents open, quarter-lights reversed and back screen down. The two issues seem to be heat transmission via the tunnel and floors and the fact that the fresh air and cold air vents run about 4 C hotter than the outside temp. I guess that is transmission through the heater body itself or hot air coming off the bonnet and into the vents. Heat builds up in the centre of the car and nothing seems to shift it. My next project is to look at putting some heat insulation under the car or under the carpets. Has anyone got any experience of improving the heat transmission generally?

After my last trip I started fitting aircon. I bought an after market compressor (Sanden type SD5HO9) and that fits neatly on the left side mirroring the steering pump. I bought a blower unit that in theory would fit in place of the parcel shelf and a very neat combined condenser/accumulator rad. The project stalled because of two main factors. Firstly it was a lot of change to the car that was only needed for twenty days per year. The other was a good place to put the rad. The normal place would be in front of the main coolant rad, but do I want to jeopardize the cooling of the car? I am now thinking of putting the AC rad under the boot on the spare wheel side. I have seen this done on an electric AC installation (not on a Stag). Then put the blower in the hood stowage area, but the question then arises of how to duct the cold air forward?

Has anyone fitted aftermarket AC to a Stag with any luck?

Any ideas gratefully received as ever!

                        Mike

Aftermarket AC, wow! that will be a mission but not impossible.

I had to drive my stag with the selector wood removed. (Selector broke) It was a hot day.
I was surprised just how much heat & noise came through the opening.

Same here, no viscous fan just the Spal electric fan as supplied by Radtec and the fitted thermostat.
