Glass and Dash

I've just read the 'wiper' thread and looking at Dave's (stagnjag) photo sparked a question. I noticed obviously that the dash was out but I also saw that the windscreen was in.
Because both are out of mine at the moment and because both are soon to be installed, I'd just like to raise the point the I was under the missaprehension that the dash had to be fitted before the glass?
I can't justify the claim, I just seem to recall that there are some dash fixings that are impossible to get to with the glass is in place, at least when removing my dash. It does seem reasonable to think the fitting the screen would be easier without the dash. Could someone enlighten me?

Bit of a 'chicken and egg' question there .

Fitting the dash is easier without the screen. Fitting the screen is easier without the dash.

I would be inclined to get the screen done first as this is probably the trickiest job. The dash can be removed and replaced without removing the glass, as others will testify.

Hi John,

I have put the dash back in today and I didn't find it particularly tricky. I would imagine that it would be very difficult to do the bottom edge of the screen with the dash in place.

It is amazing haw much difference a day makes!

Hi John,

I putascreen inmy car a few years back.

The loose ends of the fitting string were crossed over in the sealgroove at the bottom.

This was rested against the screen aperture, with the lower centre section engaged first, working outwards.

The string came out by the demist vent no trouble.

The screenwasn't easy to fit but less difficult than has been intimated on this forum.

It took longer to fit the seal to the screen and finisher to the seal than fitting the whole assembly to the car.

(someone else has posted to say you cant start the fitting at the bottom)

Yup, that's pretty much it! Pretty easy, just looks daunting!
