    Stag clock.

    Hi Folks,
I have an original Stag clock which has an issue with the hands. When the minute hand is on the hour the hour hand sits directly between the hour, so for example I would not know whether the time was three or four o` clock simply by the way the hands sit.
Could this be an easy diy fix or do I need a jeweller or specialist repairer for this task.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jimmy D

I've special tools to remove hands on such fine detailed clocks. I wouldn't recommend pulling them off with your finger nails.

Sorry if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick, but if it’s keeping good time then it sounds like your dial has spun slightly, rather than a problem with the hands. I’m not familiar with the clock in question, so if it’s square faced for example, just ignore me!

I also have this issue.. with a late unipart supplied replacement kienzle clock.
Hour & minute hands are 30 mins approx out of sync.
Dont know how it can happen
Don’t know how to re sync.

However, nowadays our phones show the time & I gave up wearing a wristwatch years ago… so it’s no big issue.

Im learning a bit about kienzle clocks though!

Exactly the same issue with my Kienzle clock, how easy is it to dissemble?

plastic bodied ones are a bit of a faf, the metal bezel surround on the front is folded over the plastic case and difficult to get apart without sacrificing case or bezel.

older type is easier because the front bezel is held on with tabs which can be bent back.

Not yet had an issue with removing the hands from these primitive timepieces with careful use of fingernails.

New bezels are here https://www.holden.co.uk/p/52mm_rim_..._gauges_chrome search around on the site if you need black.

if you do want to use a puller for the clock hands - https://www.amazon.co.uk/yuyte-Plung...A3SE79K1GPXCUC

Saves your finger nails I guess

                thanks Richard.
fwiw I did manage to get the bezel removed from a plastic housing, without visible damage.
maybe one day that clock will get fixed.
it’s low on the list at the mo though.

I've fixed the hands on two of my original clocks.
The circle part of the white plastic hands that sit around this beautiful clock's shaft does crack causing a loose fit around the shaft, hence why the hand is sagging down.
I used fine tweezers to remove; easy initially because they were cracked, they just came straight off. Glued them back up with Selley's super glue, then filing of the super glue is needed to form the original shape of the internal circle part of the hands (which to memory I think was a pentagon shape).
Then I carefully and very gently pushed them back in place. The hands don't have any special way to fit back on. You just have to use your judgement to know if they're sitting back tight enough. They only need a tiny amount of pressure to stay back in place.
After the super glue filing, I had to file the internal circle part of the hands in several places to get the original internal shape/profile back to ensure a good tight fit/hold back on the shaft.
Yes, as richardthestag mentioned above you've got to sacrifice the original look of the chrome ring to remove it.. Upon removal it cracks in a few spots on the side but not really visible after the clock is fitted back.
I didn't buy a new plain chrome ring; all my chrome bezels have the original black paint still on them; which is how I like it, all chrome doesn't do it to me.

It's micro work; I now think I'm ready for a job at Richemont or the Swatch group!
You need steady hands. I used Tamiya model cars files; cheap enough and well made.
