    Triumph Stag Shop

Has anyone bought or sold Stags at the "Triumph Stag Shop" near Birmingham. I've got a few to view at the end of the week. Also does anyone offer classic car inspections, it would be great to pay someone who knows what to look for before I part with my hard earned cash. Many thanks!

Best bet is the classifieds on SOC website or in the comic but they may have sold by the time of publication.

Definitely worth getting assistance from someone who knows their way around a Stag - can help steer you to negotiate a good deal when you find one you like. Worth speaking with your local SOC Coordinator for any suggestions. Never dealt with the Stag Shop but do note fairly consistent top dollar prices on their stock. Having said, these are asking prices so not necessarily the true selling price.

I know a fellow Stagger who bought his there and experienced some challenges - would PM his contact details as the SOC Forum is limited as to what negative feedback can be stated here, but see you're currently a Trial User, so won't have access to Private Messages.. Have you joined the SOC - in which case I'd expect your status to be changed to Member very shortly.

Just realised that your user name is your email address so will try that.

My neighbour bought one from Warren at the stag shop.
He has been very happy with the car.
The stag shop is nearby to me.
          Id be willing to inspect.

That's good to know, Julian. I guess all businesses have issues from time to time.

It was nicely prepared…but of course, it needed things doing….what 50 year old car doesn’t.

If I was you I would take Julian up on his offer, but before buying go to your local meetings see what available in your area, look at members cars and get a feel for what is right or wrong and as Koy has said look at the members adverts first, as you then will not pay retail prices. It took me a year find find my car, the most important thing is don't be in a hurry, there are load of stags to choose from, as they have a 50% survival rate. So if you miss one don't worry . it will cost you money whatever stag you buy, as they all need something it's just how much, also look out for car tax ringers ( later cars that had the identity changed to 1972 and earlier, these were tax free for a long period and the 1973-1978 where not, (now all tax free ) Ps try and buy a yellow one as that's the best colour

Yesterday I was going to inspect a nearby car with chris for an hour. We ended up going together to see two private sellers cars & the stag shop. About 9 cars in 7 hours! Also chris saw my stag & my neighbours stag… Steep learning curve.

so what were the ones like at the stag shop compared to the private sales?

All cars within budget needed work. Other cars were almost ready but way over the budget. Cheapest car was LS power!
One of the private cars was good to go … in fact superb, a bit over budget.
                        .
It was low mileage. 3 faults, 2 minor….amazing quality for a 47 year old car. Stunning paint finish… miles better than new.
But it was a strange but some say likeable colour 64!

The other private one was nice but a few things required. Sensible price, gorgeous colour. 17

I can 100% recommend Brian Page at Classic Car Assessments.

I know nothing about cars and used him to inspect a Stag for me - even the dealer I bought off was impressed with his thoroughness and he spotted a few things I could negotiated for the dealer to fix as part of the deal.

He said he'd owned a Stag himself so knew what he was talking about
