B post protector trims

My car does not have the B post protector trims.

I have seen it mentioned on the forum that they were fitted only to cars with a hardtop. My car has a hardtop but it is unlikely to be refitted unless I either sell the car or move house. It is currently hanging from the rafters in my garage.

My B post trims are slightly damaged which I could probably live with, though new stainless steel trims are a very reasonable £31 for a pair.

Couple of questions I hope can be answered.

Would the existing B post trim need to be cut back to enable fitting of the protector trim ?

The protector trims screw into the B post. Do the screws go into the same holes that the B Post trim is fixed with or would I need to make new holes for the screws ?

I bought some protectors from RImmers. The ones I got need new holes. I did not fit them.

The protector uses Phillips/pozidrive screws and is mounted over the inner trim cover so Yes, it’s separate holes.. at least that’s how mine are.. the B post outside cover is mounted using pop rivets and it does not need to be modified, but IIRC You will drill through it for the protector screws.

Thanks Terry. I did not fancy drilling new holes so I have not gone ahead with new b post protector trims, besides knowing my luck I would probably drill through the wiring to the courtesy light in the T bar. So I decided to repair the scuffed trim seeing how the hard top will not be going back on the car for some time.
I am happy with the result.
