I have discovered that if I operate the throttle control from under the bonnet with the engine off and push the control mechanism right open, the mechanism sticks before returning back to the idle position. I found this when the engine raced on start-up after I had been fiddling with the choke setting previously and must have left the control in the stuck position. It returns to normal with a click if I pull the controls back by hand. It does not stick when operated by the throttle pedal in the car. Is this normal or is there a job to do? I couldn't see anything obvious. Thanks in advance. John

What often happens is the outer cover of the cable disengages from its normal spot and sticks out of the "cup" it normally drops in to, causing the throttle to be partially on.. Could that be the case?? This wont happen in normal operation as the tension keeps it down inside.Terry Hunt, Wilmington Delaware

100% with Terry on this
circled is the circlip that stops the cable support imported post from slipping out of the pedestal.
the throttle cable could still slip out of the support housing imported post but that is less likely
