Unless they have been replaced, of course.Originally posted by MikeParker View Post
You can easily tell the difference from pedal rubbers, carpet wear etc. I think a 4300 mile Stag would be a real find. Can we see some pictures?
any mot history Tony? Would love to see itPaul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

Stag is virtually rust free although the paintwork has suffered from poor storage plenty of paperwork to go through and boxes of nos parts. The Speedo is in km and showing 6985 one family owned from new.Stag Owners Club Forum has registered Tonywhite as a Trader in used parts for The Triumph Stag. 13.12.2017

I didn't mean to limit it to those items. I was just trying to make the point. So door locks, door hinges, seat wear etc all add to the evidence. Even If you replace carpets they never look like the originals, particularly the rubber inserts in the footwells. When instruments are cleaned, the matt black inner ring is removed from the chrome bezel. With a used car the woodwork gets UV damage, particularly around the gearstick. The plastic work gets polished through human contact or cleaning. There are a large number of parts that give you clues. A 4000 mile car just looks like new, even if it has surface rust on bumpers etc.Originally posted by Goldstar View Post

I think we all understood your point the first time around Mike.Originally posted by MikeParker View Post

Tony knows his way around a stag I am sure. possibly "Stevie Wonder" could spot the differences between a 104k and a 4k car.
If you think that a 4k car will look new when it is nearly 50 years old you may be mistaken. Every single item could be seized solid. The interior and body could have dissolved through storage issues. The loom could be all but the core wires due to rodent damage.
Tony is not saying that though is he, this could be a real find

About 16 years ago spring grange had uncovered an unregistered stag . It was on less than 100 miles . They registered it & commissioned it & sold it
The new owner couldn’t keep it long sadly.
They did a good job of photographing it as a reference car… about 180 photos iirc.
it was a late car in white.

If you had read the thread you might understand what it is about.
My original post was to mjheathcote when he implied that Tony White could have got it wrong and it could be 104K. I wrote, that it was hard to confuse a 4K and 10k K car (pedal rubbers etc)
Then Goldstar responded to my post to say that you could make a 104K look like a 4 K car by replacing the worn parts.
The I responded to Goldstar to say that there a lots of parts you would need to change.
The you responded to me to say that
I think we all understood your point the first time around Mike.
Well Goldstar did not. That it is why I responded to him. That is the way the forum works.
You then said:
"Stevie Wonder" could spot the differences between a 104k and a 4k car
So you are agreeing with me and disagreeing with Goldstar. Very kind, but I am sure not what you meant to do.
So that's the problem. If you post to just to have an argument, you end up making no sense.

Don't worry about me John, I pretty much ignore everything he posts which is either a copy of what someone else posted already, misinformation or part of his ongoing agenda against meOriginally posted by KOY 23 View PostMike. I thought your mantra was attack the issue not the person.
Misinformation, like above, I try to point out, he then gets upset with me.
