    engine oil

What is best engine oil for my Stag and can I use synthetic oil? Thanks in Advance

Or Millers do a range of oils suitable for classic cars, but yes, ensure what you use has the ZDDP (zinc) additive. Which will not be present in oils for moderns as it "poisons" catalysts.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Been around since 1925 and were Shell blenders from the beginning of time. 20L is £61.66 inc VAT and from memory, delivery is about £9. I just called them to check the ZDDP levels and they say it varies by batch but is minimum 1200ppm and max 1300ppm. I'll be giving it a go as the RR stuff was excellent at £80 for 20L (bloody thing takes 9L per oil change!!).

        Good eyesight !!!

API SD : Not suitable for use in most gasoline-powered automotive engines built after 1971. Use in more modern engines may cause unsatisfactory performance or equipment harm.

API SE: Not suitable for use in most gasoline-powered automotive engines built after 1979.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) is the only national trade association that represents all aspects of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our more than 600 corporate members, from the largest major oil company to the smallest of independents, come from all segments of the industry.

SD is probably OK being as the Stag engine was designed in the late 1960's. But I personally use Rye Oils Classic Oil. API grade SF - the higher the letter the better the oil and cheaper at £88 for 25 litres delivered - gone up a lot since last year !!

Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!

Also check the Penrite range. The Shelsey light 20/60w is high zinc content. I use it in the Alvis and it maintains viscosity when really hot.
