    differential Stag part number

    Hello all,
In my workshop I have a diff and a diff cover. On the cover there is the Stanpart no. 309033. So this clearly belongs to a Stag.
On the diff itself I cannot any Stanpart no. that convinces me, that this one is for a Stag. What I can find are various numbers: "V3171", "E623", "402824", "LEEB", "121654" and "Type E". How can I identify a Stag diff clearly?
    Best wishes,
    Dieter - from Germany.

Usually there is a number hand stamped on the bottom. It starts with LD I seem to remember

LDxxxxx is 3.7 Stag and MGxxxx is Mk2 2.5 PI Saloon/Estate but MK1 saloon and all Estate rear diff covers all fit as the Estate rear suspension carried through when the Mk2 saloon mounting was modified. Why is in the lap of some Triumph God, anyway that's what I'm running to fit without modifying anything to fit a 3.45 ratio in my Stag. It was done mainly so if I didn't like the higher ratio it was a nut and bolt refit back to the 3.7 but I'm happy with the 3.45.

Wasn’t there a recent article in the magazine about this?
