Window stuck in the down position

I had this problem once or twice before. When the window is all the way down, it wont go back up. To get it to go back up, I have to remove the door panel, loosen the 4 bolts holding the mechanism to the door. Then use the switch and window operates again. I had a conversation with Terry Hunt and he has run into a similar issue. We discussed placing a deeper stop block at the bottom of the door, so the window doesn't go down as far. Has anyone run into a similar issue and resolved it? Would stripping and cleaning the motor solve this issue?

If it lifts again with the bolts loose, it sounds like it's only an adjustment issue, can be trick to sort out

One of the fixing bolts is too long causing it to foul. Loosening moves the bolt out of the way. Thats my theory.

I looked at the parts catalogue on Rimmers site and my parts book. The 4 bolt holding the assembly to the door use 4 similar length 1/4 inch bolts. I have 4 flat washers in addition to the 4 spring washers, however the catalog does not show the flat washers. I have put the panel back on and will monitor it. If it happens again, I will investigate the bolts further.

Yet another parts book error. Let the Forum know when you have found which one has to be shorter than the other three. It will save "Someone" having to take the door trim panel off to have a look.
Then those of us with parts books can amend them accordingly.

According to the parts book the four bolts are HU704P which are 1/4" UNF 1/2" long. They should all have a "light" lock washer - WL207

When fitting you should check correct operation before refitting the panel. If the end of the bolt does foul then either file a bit off of the end or fit another washer or two.

I think the parts book is wrong here Roger. I’m 99% sure mine had a shorter one on both doors which had to be fitted (I think at the bottom). I’m sure before I did it I read about it in an old thread on here. I’ve got a door card off at the moment so might have a look later
