The ones I used were black & 10.9 grade.
Imho this interface is slightly under clamped with standard 5.5 or 8.8, as they are only 1-4”. Just my 2p though

I once had a cam sprocket come loose due to the bolts stretching (lock tabs were in place). I would have to agree a better grade of bolt is a very good idea, I have been supplied with some that were too short and very soft from one of the major suppliers (can't remember which one)

TV8, efi, fast road cams and home built manifolds. 246bhp 220lbft torque
Have seen nyloc nuts added before now.
However it’s a drafted cast surface, so not a great addition. Somewhat fiddly to fit due to having to turn to get access too.
Probably done during a time when new lock plates were unavailable.

astonishing bodgery, I have seen nylocs on exhaust manifolds and turbo installations
The best cackhanded bodge that I have seen recently came from a so called Land Rover Specialist
I only removed the engine because gearbox oil was draining out of the bellhousing, that was because the tiny 1/4" bolts that held the gearbox pump cover on were all loose.
I dread to think of the chaos when those nylocs fatigued and allowed the clutchcover to come free
