    Dyno tuning

Hi all, any recommendations for a rolling road dyno test in Northamptonshire?
    I see there’s 1 in Wellingborough.
    Cheers

Is this just to see what power it make or to set the car up. If its the latter then your possibly wasting your money if your car is still on carbs. As any adjustment will mean fitting new jets and adjusting them or filing down the needles, again taking the carbs to bits.

But if your car is completely standard then it will realistically make around 100 bhp at the wheels ( 85 to 110 bhp)

Northampton is the home of U.K. motorsport development & tuning. So there will be lots of rolling roads available.

However , they will mostly be available at a large premium.

In fact, any dyno facility won’t be ‘cheap’ , far from it.

Aldon automotive in the West Midlands has a good reputation.

But for my money there’s no need to use a dyno for setting up a triumph stag road car…. Unless it’s been modified .

+1 for aldons. They also know carbs, whereas many rolling roads nowadays only do ecus.

Thanks guys, not interested in power, just wanted an idea of AF Ratio, however, thinking about it, it’s only going to be approx because of the carb/exhaust arrangement?

Since each carb feeds 2 cylinders on each bank the AFR will be an average of the two. When I had my first Stag it ran really badly when cold because the garage that tuned it to pass the MOT for the previous owner had weakened one carb far more than the other, it would start on 4 cylinders and the rest would catch up later!

I ended up tuning it by plug colour as the idle mixture bore no relation to real world driving. It was so much easier with leaded petrol!
