Plate - Release Catch 630631 for softop frame

What's the wisdom of folks in this group to remove this plate? It seems to push the frame into the hole a bit more when it is stowed.

As long as it’s not bent it does push the frame down so I I left it in place

That bracket often squashes the front rubber seal and leaves a dent there. I remove them (but note that pointy levers can then mark the tonneau cover).

Many cars seem to be missing this part.

imho this plate is useful… it compresses the hood into the stowage area & allows tonneau to store / close.
It can damage the front seal though…an additional thin sponge strip added will prevent damage….

Seems as if many trimmers have deleted it or even retained it fitted 180 degrees… no clue why it’s there possibly.

        Triumph tried… others don’t.

When my new hood/frame was fitted last month I was advised to keep the plate but lay a folded towel along the seal to protect it when stowed.

Mine was missing when I bought my Stag, so didn’t realise until Tony Hart pointed it out as the cause of my hood fabric rubbing & starting to fray. He fitted a spare that he had, which stopped any further wear. The original isn’t very robust, & is prone to getting bent, so I had a work colleague make a copy out of heavier gauge stainless, and it’s been fine ever since!
