Ignition switch glitch

Now right up until 20 minutes ago...all was well, then I came to start the car.
Key in ignition switch, it turns right up till all the warning lights illuminate, then...nothing, the key wont go any further , you know that last spring loaded bit that engages the starter motor, could the switch just break internally?, at the minute im stuck!

There are two parts to the switch - the alloy section which contains the lock and the switch which is fixed to the end with two small screws. Best bet is to remove the switch from the end and see if it works with a screwdriver. That should show you where the issue is. The switch contains the return spring and can break where it joins the lock part but the lock part can also break internally.

maybe rock the steering wheel side to side as you operate the ignition switch. it will allow the steering lock plunger to free itself

The die cast barrel inside can shear … it’s very thin die-cast.

I did notice that one of the teeny weeny grub screws that hold the electrical side in was missing..any idea where I can get a replacement?

My guess is it’s about 5mm long & 2.5mm or 3mm self tapper.maybe imperial 3/16” dia.
Ebay might list those or close enough to work.

I may have some parts for the switch lying about. Mine was faulty, the whole thing...cable switch etc. Took it apart and all the internal bits did a runner.
If I find them I will let you know. You can have them FOC. They are somewhere in the shed.
If you manage to get what you want please post, saves me taking the shed apart.
Anyhow, Tony has load of switches with the cables, thats where I got mine from.
