My body man has asked if I can supply the paint colour spec for 1972 Triumph 19 so that he can get his paint supplier to mix the correct colour. Does anyone have that information ?

I went to a paint supplier for triumph paint.
They needed help to verify what the code (82) was for (Carmine red.)
The main issue wasn’t mixing the colour from the computer information… it was reading the word (Carmine), and number (82)
Shared the screen, pointed at the name & then number…. All good after that.
Its 2022 & people struggle to read or write…. Understand that & its amazing what happens.
Triumph white 19.
if you can’t point to it on a screen, it might be a problem.Last edited by jbuckl; 5 November 2022, 00:12.

That’s been My experience over 4 cars, you walk in and ask for “1972 triumph code 19 white”. There is no formula as different paint manufacturers use different base colours. What can happen is that a particular Manufacturer or even line of a manufacturer may not have that code on file, e.g. PPG SHOPLINE. has mallard, but PPG DCC does not.. and they have no way to cross reference. Sometimes they do have an equivalent, my MG old English white was Volvo California white.
If this is the case then best bet is to find a piece of paint from the original,( I used the underside of the tonneau) and have is scanned. Or try another paint line/ manufacturer.Last edited by trunt; 5 November 2022, 00:50.Terry Hunt, Wilmington Delaware
