Emergency Stag Kit

I have be pondering what we should be carrying in the stag at all times for emergency repairs?

What should the discerning Stag owner have for back upin the boot eg,

Fan Belt, Alternator belt, Bulb Kit (legal requirement in Europe).

What else should I be carrying?

Rimmers do a touring kit - got head gasket set, fuel pump, belts hoses, tons of stuff at about £200

As for headgasket set!!!!! I would love to see someone change them on the hard sholder..

i broke down the 1st day i took mine out, the chap i bought her off of had been messing about with the carbs, the aa man tuned her right up, been running beautiful ever sincegave him a tenner drink, it was worth it

I remember when my Father took us abroad in the '60s. We used a variety of cars from an A40 Somerset, brand new (borrowed) Austin 1100, Vauxhall Viva HA, and HB. For the BMC cars he was able to hire a Continental Kit from the Austin dealer. Cost about £20 (probably the equivalent of £200 now) which you got back less the retail cost of anything you used. It held useful things such as a top end gasket set, points, plugs, fan belts, hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, fuel pump, etc.

I don't know if any dealers offer this useful service anymore.

What do I carry in my Stag? Very little, other than the phone number of the breakdown service linked with my car insurance, alternator & power steering belts and a small toolkit for little jobs. I also carry a hi-vis jacket and disposable (white paper)overalls and glovesin case I need to change a wheel.

What should you carry? Set of bulbs, belts, hoses, points & condenser (if still using them). Probably not much point carrying anything else.

I carry a gallon of oil, a gallon of ready mixed antifreeze and a gallon of fuel.also a spare chopper for the electronic ignition .more important things include spare sunglasses, English flags ,silly hat,copy of dark side of the moonand 2 fold up seats:P

I'm game for a roadside head gasket job - done it before on a Dolomite 1850 and its only a few more bolts on a Stag......
