Fuel smell in cabin

I have the hard top on Stag no.2 The inside of the car after trips smells of fuel. I can't smell fuel in the boot, nor in the engine bay. The gearbox shift gaiter was OK, but I haven't looked recently. The carbs are not leaking that I'm aware of as I rebuilt them.
Where else should I start looking?

I’d start by taking a look at the short rubber connecting sections that bridge the nylon feed pipe throughout the length from the tank to the carbs. Also check the rubber disc seal on the filler cap.

In my case it was the fuel pump. 1 drop every 20 minutes or so. Found grit in the Banjo bolt and sand like grit around fuel seals. Good vacuum and new seals fixed it. I now tighten the 2 bolts every month or two.

Have a look at the "Trouble starting after running" thread. It may just be the now all too common issue of petrol with ethanol boiling off in the carburettors when the engine stops.. It might help to leave the bonnet open after a run, or to lift the button on the top of the fuel pump inertia switch, and let the car tick over till the carbs are empty.

Another thought. I had a problem with one of the unused tank connections. There was short stub of tubing with a bung in it. From memory, the bung had disintegrated, allowing fumes directly into the lower boot area. I did not notice it in the boot, only in the car. Solution was a piece of stainless rod in the tube and a circlip.

I will investigate and report back. I have a Fed. 71 Stag and it has pipes everywhere in the boot for emissions but as mentioned the boot doesn't smell.

I had this, it turned out to be carbs........there was fuel coming out of the overflow pipe. Only noticed it after a careful examination, very easy to miss as the pipe was long and I needed to look from the bottom.
