Many thanks to Goldstar for his selfless gift to a deserving cause of the torque converter. Best Christmas present I've had in ages.

Well Richard, I've gone for the scattergun approach. As well as the FOC TC from Paul I picked up today a cheap cheap BW35 box and TC off ebay so I now have 3 x TCs. If the original is good and the only issue is fitting the assembly with the TC installed on the box to protect the front seal we're good. If not I've the joy of 2 further TCs to try before wimping out and engaging 'specialists'. By the way, how do you split the TC??

I bought an engine earlier this year and the guy threw in the BW35 box. More recently, someone swapped out his BW35 and converted into a manual. He just gave me his BW35. I'm in the process of doing a slow DIY ZF conversion. Messing with a TC is a specialist job. Watch a couple of YouTube videos on what's involved. I have 2 '71 Stags. One is a BW35 auto, the other is a manual w OD.Originally posted by threeleggedstag View PostWell Richard, I've gone for the scattergun approach. Googling Amazon cutting torches as we speak.
I would have liked to do a ZF box swap but would use T&L to whom I've spoken, but here on IoM I suspect a lower geared set up will be ideal due to no motorways and a hilly terrain. And then there's my intention to buy a 'dooer upper' with the £5k saved.

Better search for industrial lathes, as TC needs to be separated by cutting through the weld on a lathe. This is a ZF TC, but the method is similar. https://youtu.be/_5D6akI8DBU
