Fitting your front window and trim

There's a guy on FB who seems to install Stag front windows. He goes by "Pro-Fit Windscreens"
He's aware of the two types of trim and says both types fit and don't fall out. He also says be uses rubber from Rimmer, a first, and COH. I'm under the impression COH supplies Rimmers.
He says put the trim on first then fit into the car.

my fitter says the stag trim is as bad a job as it gets.

sometimes they go straight in, other times he has wrestled all day long, until.... another fitter told him to cut most of the flap off the screen rubber and then bond the stainless trim direct to the rubber.

takes him no time at all to fit a stag screen now.

Best thing is that you would never know and also marvel at the skill to make the corners sit so flat

Having fitted 3 new stag screens, using the flaps to ‘secure’ the trim before fitting to the car, I would not criticise that approach.

I had thought that there are 2 different types of stainless trim, with regard to the length of the overlap that is to fit under the flap.

but now there is only one type of screen rubber.

i did manage to fit mine with the screen and rubber in the car but just couldn't get it to behave when fitting to the rubber out of the car, as fast as i would get one section fitted the previous would have fallen out. i did get one half fitted and then struggled to get the rubber onto the screen, gave up went for beer

never yet managed to get the bottom corners to sit flat

I've fitted the trim after the screen was fitted, just fit the trim the same way as you fit the screen

I thought I'd covered this years ago in the technical section but there are apparently miracle workers with glue and string out there, so if you have early trim and later rubber I'd go to a miracle worker as there's only 0.5mm rubber lip overlap to keep the trim in place!

As always, happy to be proven wrong with facts and accurate data rather than facebook claims

I posted a video showing how the tool in the rom can actually be used. (Obviously not on here, just a link)
might be in the file section of the Facebook group.

As always, Drew’s detailed analysis of the seal types & trim types was (is) as thorough as it gets.

might even be worth searching for… but searches here are similar to fitting a triumph stag windscreen…. Ok not quite as tricky

edit.... actually just tried searching via the phone.....actually turned out to be impossible....locked up!

been looking for that recently but couldn't find it; I'd made the tool but had been trying to use it and failed; after seeing the video I realised I'd been using it completely wrong!

Of the million posts about fitting stag windscreens & trim, there are very few videos…
