    Original Stag Alloys

    I have a 1975 Pimento Stag ( my third!)
it has original alloy wheels with the black line around the edge of the rim.
Does anyone know if there is a firm out there that can refurb them to absolutely original spec

the last time I did Stag wheels ( 30 years ago!) did it myself, but now I need this cars wheels done properly

This does seem to be a bit of an issue.
Even respected wheel outfits seem to get it wrong, even with written instructions.

Best place I have heard of was pristine wheels Milton Keynes… now closed down sorry.

I have used A1 wheels bilston & Rimstock West Bromwich.

Both places managed to muck up , without being able to fix

My son recommended a guy to me that he has used for his Lexus wheel repairs a few times, Fusion Wheels Kent. Unfortunately, he is based in Swanley area Kent, just off the A20 heading east from the M25 junction.
He has done numerous Stag alloys, even shows them on his web page as below. I'm not familiar with the "original" look you mention with the rim edge in black. Do you mean the lip of the rim continued from the inner surface? Last picture shows them powder coated awaiting diamond cutting to finish.

It's a long shot, but if you can get a set of Challengers, you will be the envy of most of us.

A first glance that looks like a white line on the tyre. I'll have to check against my wheels when it gets light.

Nice job, but lacking the 5mm or so of black on the last outer diameter as o.p. Was asking about.

It is a white line. I had similar etched onto standard Firestone tyres. They sit the wheel/tyre onto a machine which keys a 1/2" circle then apply a paint ( I assume rubberised) to create a whitewall effect. Quite resilient to the elements, road salt etc. Still visible on the last remaining spare tyre that my rolling shell current sits on today, some 35 years after being applied (though it had sat in the boot well for most of that time).

Does anyone have an image to share of the original look? I could get my son to ask the guy if he can replicate.

Here’s some info for all of you. I would rather pay someone to do it, however.

                          Wow!

also prefer to sub out…. But last time they lacquered over the machining, despite the written instructions saying not to.

I have worked out that a stag wheel just fits on the lathe… might end up re machining myself one day.

Thanks for the replies, still trying to find someone to do a proper job!
My car has its original wheels all with (19)76 date cast into the rims.

That’s a shame about Pristine wheels.. they did mine some years ago in the middle of the restoration and did a great job. From memory it was not ridiculously expensive and in the cost they collected them and returned them wrapped in separate boxes.
it is a shame we are loosing so many great little companies. ☹️
