Just about to purchase a set of used wire wheels, so.......... Anyone know of a chroming/plating outfit who will refurb local(ish) to Andover? And what's the consensus on fitting tubes?
TIA
Rab
Used wire wheels? Are you sure the splines are OK? And have you priced rechroming? Not a cheap thing these days. Surely new ones would be a better investment? Most older wheels will require tubes. Some modern ones can be tubeless.
As above, sell a kidney and a child for chroming. I think a lot of people paint them when the chrome is beyond salvation by polishing.
As Terry says above, a new set might be more cost effective although looking around they seem to be around £2,000 once you add the hub conversion, blimey

I bought a set of uprated wires for my MGB some time ago. Stainless and tubeless. Looked very nice but I was told they would flex up to 2" during hard cornering!!
I have original Stag wire wheel. The lace pattern is very unique to the Stag. Made by Dunlop ISTR. I've been given some wheels and most of them have spline wear. In the bin they have gone. Don't forget the adapter is prone to spline wear too.
I'm down to my last 6 wires.
