Is this the original type of switch used for the glovebox? I have a right angled one which is similar to that used for the boot light. My car is a '71.

Hi Sujit,
The switch offered by E J Ward (and most retailers I believe) will serve the purpose, but (in theory) the original causes less strain on the attached wire and connection because the deflection when the switch operates is at right angles to the axis of the wire, not in line with it, and there is a button on the end of the plunger which acts as a retainer for the sponge doughnut. The doughnut is high density foam, it acts to push the glovebox lid open when the latch button is depressed.
I should imagine second-hand ones are available, postage shouldn't be too expensive !Comment

you can just replace the straight Lucar connector with a 90 degree one to give the same cable flexComment

If not mistaken the end of the wire is a bullet connector. I took one off my parts car for now and will source one from Tony White in the near future.Comment

I cleaned up a spare switch and Googled it. It was used on Fords as well as well as other BL cars.
