Thanks Mike, that's great news I just didn't fancy removing the frame!

Have a first aid kit handy. The door apertures can be razor sharp, and if the motor slips

As an idea, maybe use some suction hooks on the glass so they sit on the top of the door ? Or gaffer tape up and over the chrome window frame ?

Gaffer tape the Glass in place holding glass to the frame, another option would be using a bolt with nyloc nut in place of the rivet., that way you could replace the window roller with the motor still in the car, the hardest bit would be getting the old rivet out., but that's just drilling it out.

If the lifters are slow, they can often be improved by lubricant on the channels ( silicone) and the assister spring being lubed.
the spring ideally has to be unloaded to lube properly. ( beware)

the roller & lower carrier can be lubed too. Or replaced.

Slow lifters have been fixed by replacing the channel with the correct section…. Soctfl…. Currently nla, but new channel is about to be remade….. the last lot was 2 km …. Yep 2000 metres… all sold!

frame out for swapping the channel though imho.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'm going to tackle the motor removal tomorrow, since the windows have slowed a bit since the other day (maybe the lube has dried out a bit) whilst out I'm going to use Drew's guide to overhauling the motor. Hopefully overhauled motor and new roller should get them racing up and down!
              Cheers, Peter.

We have just approved the sample so the new channel should be in production shortly. We’ve ordered a similar amount as last time.

I never managed to lubricate the assistor spring without removing it.
This really helped with window lifter operation.

However the rom warns that there is danger of injury when attempting this !
