Another one from a newbee. stowing the soft top.

Is there a correct way to stow the soft top?

Mainly. Do you unzip or leave the rear window in place when stowing the roof?

What does it say in the owners manual?

I unzip the window and feed it in first. Some use a rolled up towel to add some protection but I tried it and it didn’t seem to make any difference.

The big item that is often missed with new owners, is the correct clipping of the rear rail in the upright condition, before attempting to stow.

General soft top stowage instructions should be on a label on the driver side sun visor. There should also be a label in the stowage compartment near the tonneau release cable, specifically warning about the importance of securing the rear rail in the vertical position before stowing.

Ahh! I've noticed a sticker on the sun visor. But it's a bit crinkly and peeling at the edges. I assume it was re-stuck to the replacement sun visors in 2008 when the owner of that time fitted new ones. I don't remember clipping anything to anything when me and the last owner stowed the hood before fitting the Hard top. I'll cross my fingers.

This is a video I made some time ago showing the stowage/raising procedure. This was with my old (original) soft top, which had a knackered rear window zip. I take a bit more time now I have a new soft top, unzipping the rear window and tucking the fabric in carefully.

Mine is a original soft top but does not go down as easy as that, but it's water tight and touch wood the rear window is clear and zip good, my webbing had some sort of foam on it but is coming adrift can you but that foam to glue back on?

                    thanks

That was the original, no headlining, soft top with its original Vybak rear window. This was all confirmed by Jim at SE Trimmings when I went there last Sept for a new hood and frame. The foam had gone from that one too. The new one is much stiffer to fold and has only been stowed twice since it was fitted, and not been out in the rain yet (apart from the shower we went through on the way home from Kent). I usually fit the hard top in Winter, but was reluctant to stow the new hood for several months.

Wish mine was as easy as that, even the seagulls were laughing at it being so easy

This is my hood with the window writing pictured

These windows seem a lot thicker and better quality than a lot of new ones I've seen, haven't seen all manufactures

Thanks, Nice video. Mine isn't anywhere near as easy to stow as yours. I'll have a play with mine over the weekend, learn a bit more about the car.
