    Underseal on new sills??

Hi,can anyone tell me how far up the original sills were(or not) undersealed,i've fitted new sills and the original had of coarse been repaired a few times with black underseal or chip guard about an inch up from from the bottom, did they come out of the factory just painted ??
    thanks in advance,Adrian.

Mk1 Stags (prior to LD20001) were painted body colour. From LD20001 to pre LD40001 they were satin black with a thin stainless strip fixed along the raised section. From LD40001 to end of production they had full length alloy sill covers. No underseal was used on the sill panels.

    From LD20001:

That's right for originality, although on my early Mk 2 project car I decided keep the sills in body colour (white 19) purely out of personal preference. Likewise the rear number plate area which was also black when it left the factory.

Yes,think i'll keep my shiney new sills body colour aswell, when i used to work in a bodyshop years ago we used white chip guard and sprayed colour over that which is probably best of both worlds!

My Federal should have full width sill covers but I chose not to re-install, instead also went with stone chip/body colour. I would really like the UK style thin trim but can’t bring myself to drill the sills.. should have thought of that at the bare metal stage!
