    Speedo trip reset cable

I have only recently realised that I am unable to reset the trip miles on my speedo. It would seem that I am missing the trip reset cable that plugs into the rear of the speedo and is fixed below the dash. I have not been able to fathom out the part number and I cannot find any listed at the usual stag suppliers.
I have however found a couple of trip reset cables on eBay for other smiths speedometers for other cars, they are a bit spendy, but they do look like they may do the job. But these appear to come in different lengths and I am not sure how long they need to be for the stag.

Anyone have any info on how long these cables need to be for the stag and a source for supply.

    TIA Alan

Thanks Richard that’s the one, I looked at that on rimmers website and saw that it was nla but missed the point that the part number was there. 159738 is what I need.

On a spare speedo from my Mk 2 parts car, the overall straight-line length of the reset cable from the rear of the speedo to the tip of the reset button is 13 inches / 33 cm. I didn't detach the cable from the speedo.

Thanks Philip that is very useful info.
I found a s/h one using the part number and they say it's 230cm, apart from them wanting £15 shipping, which was a deal breaker, and the fact I now know it would be too short means my search continues. Thanks again.

Further update: Mick Dolphin www.mickdolphin.co.uk has a used 159738 on his Dolomite list, price £7.00, but he says it is 240 mm long - different to my measurement of 330 mm but not sure why. Mick is usually very careful with his descriptions, it could be that I have a different part on my parts car.

I have a spare tachometer buried in my shed. 13 inches is too long. I can't recall for sure but I packed it away in bubble wrap and would have recalled having to deal with that long thing. my mk1 are less that 8 inches .

the ends of that thing are plastic. At least on a spare Mk1 i have. Once in, it's difficult to remove without disassembling of the gauge from the front. I have a broken one

I found this one .. if the ends are OK it may work.. it should be mounted on the bottom of the dash, theres a hole there for it

Cable arrived from Mick today. I was hoping I could find the hole in the back of the Speedo by reaching up from below. But my hands are not as agile as they use to be so I had to release the dash.
still only took about 5 minutes to fit. At 330 mm it was a bit longer than it needed to be but it still fitted and works fine. Another little job off the list.
