Chrome Windscreen Surround

My latest Mk 1 Stag oddly did not arrive with the chrome surround the windscreen (aka Windscreen Finisher Moulding 908098 and 908097. Tony White has two versions in stock, one with a wide channel and one with a narrow one.

Does anyone know what the difference is, which is better (if either) and whether one is for a Mk 1 or Mk 2?

This is well covered in the forum but basically there was a change and the one you need depends on what rubber seal you have, only the later seals are available now so my guess is that your original screen was replaced, it had early trim which did not fit the new rubber.. so was left off! But that’s a guess..

Now I'm in a panic over MY chrome surround. I recently removed the windscreen as part of restoration strip down and the old rubber, presumably original Mk 1 '72 , was sunbaked in places cracked and crumbling so to make things easier I simply cut through the rubber as wasn't going to be salvageable for refit.

So now the dilemma now is, I have a perfectly good early Mk1 chrome surround but with only the later rubber available it's not going to fit. Is this correct ?
