PAS Pump

My pump appears to be leaking from somewhere (not the pipes) so am wondering if it's better to buy the seal kit or just swap it for a rebuilt one from one of the usual suppliers.

I have seen posts about both routes, but no definitive answer.

Any thoughts gratefully received!

if u are talking about your power steering pump, your rack is most likely leaking. take the steering rack gaiters off and see if fluid is in there. I've rebuilt 2 pumps. they typically stop working or should I say stop producing pressure than leak.

Thanks Sujit - can't be the rack as it is wet under the pump itself and it would defy gravity to be there.

As the pump seems to work perfectly and after a kind tip from Goldstar Paul, I think it may have been an overfill that leaked out. I am going to try his suggestion of talc to see if there is a leak.

The reservoir to pump body has a oring seal afaiaa.
that can be the cause of a pump leak if it’s not the pipes.

Thanks Julian, I was wondering if there was a seal there. I'll see how it is after the weekend.
