Upgrading from a MK1 to Mk2 Radiator and cooling system.

Hi,
I have an early Mk1 Stag (Feb 71) federal model that I would like to upgrade the radiator to the MK2 model. The current radiator is definitely looking warn out and I want to replace it. Before ordering a new one I just wanted to know if anyone has considered this swap before and what is needed to make the change including up grading the fan and pully system. I will also be ordering the Stag Webber cooling system as extra insurance.

I'm not sure if the Mk2 fan and clutch are an upgrade, just different? I may be corrected but if they are in good shape they can probably stay.

For Stag no. 2 which is a Fed. '71, I reused a mk1 radiator from my spare supply. The radiator seems to have been rebuilt. I installed a Stag weber header tank with it and it uses a 20 lb cap. I used a blanking radiator cap for the Mk1 rad. I have a small water leak and the header tank is in an easier place to get access to to fill with coolant.
If your car is running OK temperature wise, maybe consider getting your radiator rebuilt.
I have a Mk2 SuperGill in my other Mk1 Stag. It too has a header tank.
If you go the route of a Mk2 rad. you will need the expansion bottle, but I've heard new expansion bottles fail too soon, but if you use the Stagweber header tank you should be OK.

Check the crankshaft bolt thread engagement. It may need to be increased (longer bolt required for mk2)
