    Internal lining to a hardtop

    Hi guys

Just joined the club. Have a 1975 auto which has been completely refurbished over the last 3+ years which has cost me 2 arms 2 legs a torso and a head! Nearing the end only the internal lining to the hardtop to be completed but feel I'm being ripped off. How many hours would you estimate to complete/cost from a professional restorer?

    Thanks

How long is a piece of string?

For the hardtop headlining, the Factory time is 4.35 hours - so if your restorer is charging £75 per hour, that would be £326 plus VAT, plus materials, say £450 all in.

The headlining kits consist of several pieces which are only roughly cut with a lot of excess material. Quite a bit of pulling, stretching, glueing, nip & tucking and trimming to be done. A simple, but time consuming job. I'd make sure you give the upholsterer the old pieces of headlining and backing boards as the "what-goes-where" is not immediately apparent from the roughly cut oversized pieces in the kit.
      The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137
