    place for foot rest (RHD Automatic)

    Good morning all,
    a Stag friend gave me a foot rest for the left foot in a Stag with automatic gearbox. I drive a 1971 Mk1 and wonder where this part can be built in. Are there any threaded holes to be found under the carpet? If so, what size thread are they?

    Believe the weld nuts are there, not 100% certain.

    heres LD parts listing for the screws :- (5/16 unf x1” ghf103)

      On my 1971-build RHD car there are two nuts welded into the floor close to the gearbox tunnel at the forward end of the floor. You will need to lift the edge of the tunnel carpet to see them. I used them to fit the LH foot plate but now mine's got a manual gearbox I've taken the foot plate out.

          Good luck because the weld nuts were not present on my Nov 1972 Mk1.5. StagClassics fitted the footrest for me, it's in line with the other pedals and is a real help for my left foot

            When I converted mine from Auto to Manual OD the footrest was nut and bolt. Needed very log arms indeed

              Two April 1973 Mk 1.5s I have access to, including my project car, do have the 5/16" weld nuts fitted. We fitted the foot rest in the project car after locating the approx position by looking at the other one. We use an old soldering to cauterised holes of suitable size in the carpet, this made it a bit easier to get the bolts through and stops the carpet fraying. Best to have a bucket of water handy just in case. My left foot doesn't function, it's good to have somewhere to put it !

                    when I bought my current car it was a manual and I recently noticed that it has the footrest fitted. Handy now it’s an auto

                      If there are no weld nuts present…. Consider fitting riv-nuts . Might have use m8….
