Forgot to say quite a lot of stuff there 
There should be enough room between the rad and crank bolt to get the belts past. If not then there is something wrong.
Customer of mine had a rad from robsport, standard size and the threaded studs at the bottom were in the wrong place. This was about 3 years ago. I was quickly able to identify the issue as the rad was not sitting tight against the forward bulkhead.
You can enlarge the holes on the bottom of the rad support panel.
You can get your original rad re-cored. I use Frank at Viking Radiators in Uxbridge for that.
Almost the middle of August, have a safe trip and pack your woolly jumpers, you are going to need them here
