Forgot to say quite a lot of stuff there

There should be enough room between the rad and crank bolt to get the belts past. If not then there is something wrong.

Customer of mine had a rad from robsport, standard size and the threaded studs at the bottom were in the wrong place. This was about 3 years ago. I was quickly able to identify the issue as the rad was not sitting tight against the forward bulkhead.

You can enlarge the holes on the bottom of the rad support panel.

You can get your original rad re-cored. I use Frank at Viking Radiators in Uxbridge for that.

Almost the middle of August, have a safe trip and pack your woolly jumpers, you are going to need them here

There was a third type of pulley, (maybe Federal only) that has no groove machined in the end, maybe its that one and its pushing it further forward.??

sometimes this spigot is fitted and it is not needed see photos

When Tony Hart was selling his supergril rads he would machine the spigot bush, that would move the fan back a little so you could change a fan belt

Thanks for the replies all. how does the gap where it goes into the engine look. looks about 1/2 " ?

Put the original radiator in and it has a much bigger clearance. Does the gap onto the crank case look to big at about 1/2 " ?
