    fuel pump

Bought the car yesterday. Drove here OK
No fuel pump not ticking so won't start .
Its suppo6to be a solid stat pump . The guy has bypassed the int switch . I've tried tapping it but nothing
I didn't want to go down electronic pump bcz they push too much psi then I have to fit regulator
    Best options plz

Check it’s earthed properly and it’s getting a full 12v

I thought the LD parts pump was an electronic one? That’s what I’ve got and it was from them. Works well and general feedback is good. I’d agreed with goldstar…I’d check for a sound 12v (with good earth) first if no ticking.

Check the inertia switch on the engine bulkhead to see if that has crudded up contacts, or even just simply tripped, and needs resetting.

Check ignition supply to the inertia switch.
Disassemble the switch & clean the brass ring and copper leg contacts.
No need to clean the ball.
Reassemble and reinstate the wiring to it (not polarity sensitive )

                check supply at pump.

as a temporary check, it’s possible to join fuses 1&2 to get an ignition supply…. Don’t leave them connected for long…. In fact, it’s wise to disconnect the ignition coil whilst testing , in order not to cook it whilst carrying out tests

A piggy back at the inertia switch is a convenient source to power electronic ignition modules…. However it’s not the best idea imho.

Better to use a separate ignition supply for ignition modules.

                          Got voltage reading now?

Bear in mind all the spades are 50 years old too.

Imho use genuine lucar spades with proper crimps.

Blue/Red Pre insulated ones are imho only good for radio installations….. junk for essential circuits.

Aware others swear by them… that’s ok. I tend to avoid them…. Unless it’s for non essential circuits.
