hi. can anyone tell me about the big round spring , what it does and what it’s it’s position . both mind are loose with the hood up but the one side catches a lug on the way down becoming tight. the other side just bangs and clatters. help please. glyn

This should help you to see if it’s on properly. Can you post pictures of your springs?

I think you are referring to the torsion springs by the B-post? Their purpose is to stop the front of the hood crashing onto the top of the windscreen surround. The long ends must be hooked behind a body tag. You will probably find they dont fit very well, because they usually get bent around out of shape. .

hi why is there no tension on them with the hood up but taught when it’s down please. the vertical end is in the mech hole. a bit like a square the other end is free until you tilt the hood then it catches a right angled bit on the end of one of the ends
