Because I haven't been well recently (but feeling much better now), I have not been out in the Stag a lot recently.
Thought I would rectify that last night as the misses and I had been invited out for a meal in Silencio about 5 miles
away, so thought we would go in the Stag. As I pulled out of the car park heard an almighty clatter from underneath
and thought I might have a serious problem. Turned out that once again the 3 exhaust support rubbers had split and
dropped my exhaust on the floor at the back. I don't know what rubber these supports are made of but they don't
seem able to cope with a warm climate as this has happened several times (but only) since I moved to Tenerife.
Rang Paddocks this morning and ordered six more rubbers which they said would be in the post this afternoon.
Hope they arrive a lot quicker than my SOC mag does (still not got April's edition).
Changing the subject we have had (and still have) a lot of stranded holidaymakers out here & Maureen and I have been
trying to help them by going on the Internet and re-booking flights for them or searching for alternatives. Some of the
Airlines websites are dreadfull and totally unhelpful, whilst others you might wonder about have been very good and most
helpful. One (non-budget) Airline in particular ( I won't mention it openly) seem to be ripping there customers off and not giving
them the correct information nor any financial help whatsover (in fact just the opposite by making them re-book and
re-book again and demanding payment up front each time to do so).
Another so called "Budget" airline that doesn't always get a good Press is re-booking passengers on new flights for free
and also giving them money for subsistence whilst they are stranded.
We have some holidaymakers who only came out for a week but now can't get back till well into May and have already
run out of money.
I know which Airlines I will avoid in the future, and which ones I will be happy to keep flying with. The Travel companies are
just as bad and everyone (with certain exceptions) seems to be trying to pass the buck and do as little as possible.
We currently have people in our rental apartment that should have gone home over a week ago and have had as well as their
original flight cancelled, a re-booked flight with the same airline also cancelled and now had to re-book a second time, each time
having to pay in advance with a promise of a refund sometime in the future.
Fortunately they have been able to stay on in our Apartment as the next tenants of it had their outbound flight cancelled too.
Unlike the holiday companies and some of the Airlines we will not profit from their mishap and have told our stranded family of 4
they can have the Apartment until they eventually get home for just the cost of the water & electricity used etc. The ones who
were supposed to follow them in we have told they can have another week any time they like (when it is free) at no extra charge.
I have now finished my long dose of antibiotics and can now enjoy a pint again as the specialist in the Hospital when I had my
biopsy didn't say that I couldn't. The results of the biopsy I won't know until Mid May but I am not going to worry about them.
Just thought it was time I made another post on the Forum as I've quite a bit of catching up to do.
