Thanks, all, for your thoughts on ' How to migrate from 185/80 to 175/80 tyres on factory alloys'.
Now (while I wait to hear from my insurer!) I've followed the logic that, since I'm using the Stag all year round, how about actually shopping for 'All Seasons' tyres? Obvious, really, of course, but if you thought it was hard to find the right summer tyres for factory alloys ... ! It seems at present we would have to settle for 175/80R14 tyres with a load/speed rating of 88T, if permitted. (Doubtless other choices will have been available pre-COVID or pre-(Putin's)war).
Theoretically, the current favourite for me looks like the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-2. On paper, it looks to be pretty good in the wet. But I see the comparable Uniroyal AllSeasonExpert2 boasts that it's 'Three peak mountain snowflake certified', so maybe that's better in the cold. Clever marketing-speak, certainly...
What do you reckon?
