    Dash lighting

Dash lighting rheostat packed in a while ago (seized solid) just got round to replacing only to find new one is different style. Old one had four connections in a row with only three in use, new one has two double connections. Any clues on connecting? Also cant seem to find power feed wire to rheostat so looked to Haynes wiring diagram to find i might have " parking dimmer" relay in the boot!! .......havent checked yet. Will probably ditch parking light option altogether if i can but not sure how too.
    Any ideas?

Here's my starter for ten based on what I have on my project car. The power feed to the rheostat is a red/black wire terminated in a female l connector. Push this onto one of the double male connectors on the rheostat, it doesn't matter which. There are three red/white wires which feed the instrument lamps. One has its own female connector, the other two share a common female connector. Push these onto the other double male connector on the rheostat.
