Do you need to overhaul your seat belts?

Just a shout out for Sue and Kim at F.D.T.S. Ltd, http://fdts-seatbelts.co.uk/Index.html, who recently mad a first class job of overhauling my front belts. They offer a bespoke service which takes account of your detailed requirements, and above all, they provide the sort of traditional service that I thought was long gone. Well done ladies

I’ve used them too. Quality product, and nice people to deal with.

I too found FDTS an excellent company to deal deal with. Hopefully I'll never need to fully test their product!

I spent ages & £££ on old seatbelts in vain… as soon as the webbing was inspected they were mostly all junk!

Sent the original belts off to safety belt services (Bedford?)

received back in the post within 5 days, all refurbished & for less than I wasted on used belts!

Safety Belt Services UK are specialists in the design and manufacture of seat belts, seat belt repair, seat belt restoration seat belt height adjusters, seat belt extenders and wheelchair harnesses. SBS can fix your broken seat belts, MOT seat belt repairs, dog chewed seat belts and much more.

I think you will find that Sue at fdts, worked at the original belt manufacturer , that why they know their stuff

There a little bit of history attached, and on their website. Sue's dad Bill helped me out with some seatbelts sometime around late 80's or early 90's, when I recently visited they were able to look up the handwritten invoice. Not saying anything untoward about Safety Belt Services though, its always good to have choices !

                Another recommendation for FDTS!

My Stag's been my Daily Driver since 2013, so I couldn't claim to be surprised when EJ Ward recently noticed that my forty-year old seat belt was looking a bit frayed at the edges. But I didn't want to be off the road as a result.

Sue very kindly offered me FDTS's while-you-wait re-webbing service, which turned out to be well worth a two hour drive.

Sat in the workshop (with coffee and cookies!), I could see how laborious it can be for them to re-use original retractors. Mine was certainly never meant to be taken apart, but Sue's determination won through. I wouldn't have resented paying £41 for a replacement retractor if it proved necessary, since my whole bill was only £43.20, and I (now) know that a firm in Nottingham would charge twice as much.

FDTS documentation is very complete, but from just looking around the workshop I could see that FDTS would be a great help if you fancied a little more chrome and colour-coordinated belts.
Mk.2 auto, carmine, had me hooked since '81.

These sorts of service are a breath of fresh air. On a similar subject, my old lotus elan had very unusual catches on the retractables. I sent them to quickfit (not the tyre place) refurbed quickly and efficiently

Recent journeys took place on the M42 at less than 4mph.

No seatbelt needed and texting to say you’ll be late …. All good.
