oil leak

hi,

i have no oil leak or i thought, i parked the stag on a steep down hill and after about an hour or so came back and found an oil leak under the car, engine oil, it was black, at least i think it was, not a small leak it was about 18 inches square. has anyone any ideas your help please

hi,
thanks for the reply, had a look under with a torch, it looks like its from the back rear of the engine, meets the gearbox ?, its on the drivers side its wet so guess thats where it is

Perhaps the leak is from the half moon part of the cam cover, mine leaked from there and the oil ended up approx in the same place.

Could be the rear of the sump gasket, or the rear crankshaft oil seal.
I take it you parked facing forward up hill?
The oil level would have been higher than normal at the back, and leaked out. On level ground the oil sits just below the sump gasket.

i was facing downhill, hope it helps, just checked again and no leak, its parked on the flat now though.
