Just recently my cylinder heads have been on and off a couple of times, the garage that replaced my head gaskets in November changed my inlet manifoldas well for a better condition one and put the gaskets on with no sealant and I had no leaks,so when I put the inlet manifold back on the other day I also put the gaskets on with no sealant and guess what,no leaks, they were County brand as well not Payen.None of the bolts were over tight either.
Before that manifold was changed it use to be Payen gaskets, left overnight stuck to the head before re-assembly,and a bottle of K-seal and I would still have to re-tighten up a couple of bolts to stop a trickle with the risk of stripping the threads.
So if youve got a constant battle to keep the v dry with leaking manifold gaskets it might be worth finding a better second hand inlet manifold.
