Engines should run at about 90 to 95 deg C. If you go much above that you get too near the boiling point. The system is pressurised at 20lb (Mk2) so should not boil until 109 deg (if pure water, not sure about antifreeze)
thanks mate, so im safe in that department then, still need to resolve the pressure problam, im still thinking of fitting a exspansion vessel to absorb some of the pressure, regards Lyndon

      Lyndon,

You already have an expansion vessel fitted.

You could think of replacing it with a 'header tank' as Neil said.

If you are getting air in the system, as I am, put some K seal in and see if that does the trick.

      Jeff.

what i have is of a tank than a vessal, but still when u put the cap on it it wont relieve the pressure when it gets hotas like a vessal would. not only do you get air in the system witch needs to get out somewhere whenwater gets hot it exspandes and needs to be absorbed so when it cools it goes back. regards lyndon

It is another type of water leak sealer. Similar to Barrs Leaks or Radweld, but better. Stick it in the cooling system.

Can't see it being any good for HGF though.........:?
