Floor Treatment

I have just taken seats out for re trimming and decided to strip carpets out to check floor etc. Pleased with very solid floor but under the seat was a little rusty and will need plating.

I will repaint floor once this is done, has anyone suggestions on what to do it with ? Dont really want it body colour just something that will protect it for a little while longer ! Would prefer to keep it brownish rather than drab black but I do not know whats available. I have heard people use some form of stone chip paint that sets hard and dry so carpets would not be an issue.

Good old Hammerite is as tough as old boots - when I re-bodied my father-in-law's MGB roadster 11 1/2 years ago I had the body on a spit - while it was upside downputting waxoyl in the box sections I gave the whole underside and inside of the wings and arches 3 coats of bronze coloured Hammerite - the areas I painted are still clean and as good as the day I did them - no rust yet!

This car is still used EVERY day and has never been garaged so if you are not too bothered about colour match hammerite is as tough as you'll get and give you loads of protection. Copes really well with stones and things scuffing into it and is seriously waterproof.

Yes I have used Hammerite in the past and like you am a fan. Just wondered if anything else was on the market as an option.

Probably will resort to the bronze which will not look too different to the brown !

I re-did my floor pan in hammerite. Worthwhile in my opinion.
