    Heater Bezel Screws

Hi All, what are the 4 screws used to fit the heater bezel ? the holes look to be threaded for machine scews but difficult to be sure.

Hi Chris, if you're referring to the bezel part no 725530 it's difficult to identify the fixings, but on page 06-62 of my April 1978 parts book they're shown on p. 06-62 where they are are also used for the bezel for the air conditioning system, there are 4-off plastic push-in nuts 625624 and 4-off screws 517782. These fixings seem to be used on lots of models. I haven't found a direct spec for the screw 517782, however in the Toledo parts book they show the same push-in nut with screw YZ3404.

So following the trail to the Standard Triumph Hardware Catalogue, that suggests it could be a no. 8 x 1/2" self-tapper - to be exact, you would be looking for one with a cross recess 'A' type, and pan head. Any port in a storm, so I would try any odd no. 8 you happen to have for size, then if you want you could go for (say) a matt black stainless steel screw such as this one, which is in stock at Accu: -

Helpful info from Phillip, but …. Imho opinion the screws needed are raised head csk not pan head.

      Sorry for the dullness….

Also imho if all the incorrectly described fasteners and fixings were removed from the internet…. Well, well there’d be no need for any kind of cloud storage system

E.g. you find something close on eBay…. But there’s no length option, or no diameter option or pitch option.

I even bought a set of stainless stag inlet manifold screws and bolts…. With the wrong quantity supplied.

Incidentally, the electricity generation in Ireland sends 1/3 rd of its capacity to the cloud… bonkers.

        Hi Julian

Thanks for your thoughts - I've just braved the sub zero temperatures to look at an original bezel. The four bezel holes aren't countersunk, so I would probably use pan head as the witness marks appear to suggest. The four holes are a nice clearance on no. 8 self tappers, but no. 7 or even 6 works if you want more wriggle room when you fit it. The project car is parked in the workshop with Ford Mustangs of the era for company, so I'm not able to check right now what we used there but most likely the original fixings.

Off topic, but I made up a kit of stainless manifold fixings, and then went into OCD mode (even more than usual) over whether to use them in aluminium, so didn't use them. Maybe the next time the manifold comes off if I can make a decision.

I assume you mean the heater control bezel (which contains the ash tray). Here is one I have just removed from my car as a picture is worth..

Thanks Dave, confirms that the one I suggested would be a good match
