    Bad News

I have just received the very sad news that the Club's Founder member, and Honorary Vice President,Tony St John Hart, died on Friday 8th December 2023. The family are having a quiet private funeral and plans will be made for a memorial service in 2024.

    With deep regret,
    Lesley Phillips
    Honorary President

That is sad news Lesley. Such a massive figure in the history of the club and the car. RIP Tony

Very sad news indeed. Tony has certainly helped me over my 40 plus years of Stag ownership and knew more about the car than anyone. I had struggled for many years with strange engine behaviour when the car was hot. I asked him about this at a Stag National Day and he immediately said it was probably the carb breather valves getting stuck. Back then I didn't know what they were, so he explained how to grab the brass operating pin with some pliers and check that they moved freely. That was indeed the problem and was one of many useful tips.

Thank you and rest in peace

        Mike

          Very sad news.
Without people like Tony the Stag as we know and love today would never have survived.
Such a knowledgeable and helpful gentleman.
          His reputation is legendary.
          RIP.

Very sad news, lovely guy and so helpful. If it wasn't for him, I don't see the Stag would have had such a profile and survival rate.

Very sad news. Only met him a couple of times during my 34 years of Stag ownership and SOC membership, but always helpful and knowledgeable. He will be sorely missed.

                    Condolences to his family.

Very sad news, condolences to Tony’s family and let’s hope we all have the opportunity to show our respects at a memorial - ideally somewhere associated with Tony and the Stag, and a record number of vehicles attending? Only met Tony twice, once at Enginuity Open day, and subsequently at Silverstone when his Stag was still being raced, albeit by his son. RIP

A sad loss of a man who probably did more to selflessly improve the reputation of the Stag than anyone else.
