    Now I'm really p***ed off!

Filled up with coolant this morning raising the near side front wheel as per tips.

Let the car off the jack and water ran down the V and off the back of the engine.:?

Thought I must have overfilled it or something, started the car up and there was a steady flow of coolant coming from the slot on the block under the water pump, so can only think the seal in the pump has gone. Why it had to happen after putting the inlet manifold back God only knows!:X:X

Would K seal sort this out,or does it have to come apart again?

If it is coming apart, then put me on your list for a mechanical water pump Steve!!

All the problems the last week have been because the viscous coupling was screeching last week:shock:

Do you think that you were very bad in a previous life Al? Talk about crap luck..... you could try K seal, but I don't think it'll work on a water pump unless it's the cage o ring that has let go.

I have a complete EWP system in the spares box, with a nice new correct Mk2 inlet manifold (mine has a Mk1 fitted at the mo) just waiting for something to start leaking again........ and sods law, it's as dry as a bone and I haven't put any coolant in for 5 months......

At least the external pump will be more reliable and easier to access for repairs....

I know it is not like having HGF, but having just spent the equivalent of two days in the garage sorting the other bits out, it now has to all come off again:X

      Oh well...practise makes perfect.:?

Al ,Dont panic just yet ,After my lay up 2 christmas's ago when i did my back end mine did the same ,loads of cooland out of the slot .I let it cool down and tried it again and it stopped ,i reckon the seal just needed rebedding after a long time sat still.Still a weak point though IMO.

        Cheers Steve

          Happy again

I was so worried watching all the water run off the back of the engine, and assumed it could only mean the pump seal..

..well, I should have looked at the front, as it was puring out of the top hose by thermostat housing, tightened it up a bit more and watched the leak stop.

Going for that test drive now:dude::dude:

Well to carry on the pi**ed off theme, Im really pi**ed off. Stripped all the underseal off the rear end of the Stag and just had the underseal behind the rear wheel arches which came up about an inch onto the rear wings to remove. Found one layer of underseal covering one layer of paint covering one layer of underseal covering another layer of paint covering another layer ofunderseal covering the final layer of original paint. Stripped it all off and got left with a a an edge of paint which Ive now flatted back primed and repainted.

Whats really annoying is the fact that I paid a lot of money 10 years ago for a bare metal respray that obviously didnt include removing the old underseal.Stupidly tookthe car back to the same place a couple of years later when I put a small dent in the rear wing and they obviously repainted the wing and sprayed over the underseal once again and then painted yet another layer of underseal on top of the new paint, what af*****g bodge. Now Ive spent a day putting right (as best I can in my garage) what a so called Stag specialistbodged up and Ive still got the other side to do, not happy as its set me back a couple of days. Always wondered why the bodging g*ts had brought the underseal up the rear wings for, after my "bare metal" respray.
